 Assignment Objective

A prediction is a guess about what a text might be about or what might happen next.  Based on where we are in our reading, determines what clues we use.  Notice the tools you use at before beginning a reading are different from those you use during a reading.

Directions

The first entry of your chart will be your prediction for the whole book.
  • Based on the ideas we know from the Mexican proverb at the beginning of the novel, what do you think this book is going to be about?
  • Document your ideas under the column "Prediction".
  • You may use the sentence frame from our anchor chart "I predict _______ because _______."

The 2nd entry of your chart will be your prediction for Chapter 1 "Aguascalientes, Mexico 1924"
  • "What do you think this chapter will be about?"
  •  Write that in the section under "Predictions".
  • Your predictions must be in a complete sentence. You may use the sentence frame from our anchor chart "I predict _______ because _______."

Grading
